Vocabulary
Qualitative Graphs: Graphs used to represent situations that may not have numerical values or graphs in which numerical values are not included.
Concept
Identify the appropriate axis labels of given qualitative graphs.
Rules
Qualitative graphs are graphs used to represent situations that may not have numerical values or graphs in which numerical values are not included.
Identify the independent quantity and drag the label along the x-axis.
Identify the dependent quantity and drag the label along the y-axis.
Example
The qualitative graph below shows the growth of a plant over several months. Drag each label to the correct axis.

Solution
The independent quantity is graphed along the x-axis, and the dependent quantity is graphed along the y-axis. Since the height depends on the amount of time, the height goes on the y-axis, and the time goes on the x-axis.
